The Professional Golfers’ Association of B.C. has an opening for a Tournament Coordinator. This position will be an eight-month contract position, starting in March 2009.

Responsibilities
Preparation and execution of a multi-event
professional golf tournament schedule, including:
* Arrange event details with host venues
* Coordination with sponsor representatives
* Registration of tournament participants
* Preparation of tournament draw, prize money distribution
* Scoring of events, using Tournament Expert software (training available)
* Preparation of prize tables
* Physical set-up and takedown of signage and other tournament equipment
* Communication with media before and after event
* All other duties required to stage a successful professional golf tournament

Experience in the environment of competitive golf is mandatory. Requires an organized, detail-oriented person with excellent communication skills and problem-solving abilities. Must be well-versed in Microsoft Office programs.

Compensation: Up to $3,000 per month depending on experience and qualifications. Mileage paid for use of personal vehicle (events take place at various venues around B.C.). Office located in southeast Richmond.

The PGA of BC represents 700 members working at 200 golf facilities throughout B.C. The events we stage are for the benefit of our members and must be executed with the utmost in professionalism and skilful organization. TOURNAMENT COORDINATOR
JOB DESCRIPTION

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Pre-Tournament:
* executes policy and planning decisions of Captain’s Committee
* liaises with Captain and host professionals of tournaments
* prepares checklist for each tournament and distributes among host professional and sponsor
* serves as association contact with host professional, sponsor, club manager, course superintendent and media
* ensures scoresheets are prepared
* issues press release to advise and inform media of upcoming tournament
* works closely with sponsor to plan and execute its needs at event
* prepares draw
* prepares scorecards
* orders plaques and trophies
* orders any signage and tournament gifts required
* prepares local rules and recruits rules officials as needed
* prepares hole placement sheets as needed
* creates/maintains all records/spreadsheets pertaining to entry/confirmation * processes entry payments
* prepares resource materials/supplies for onsite
* reconciliation of event budgets to actuals

On-site:
* sets up registration area
* recruits and trains volunteers as needed
* prepares scoreboard
* arranges starting and scoring
* ensures golf course is adequately marked
* checks for access to computer, copier and fax machines
* establishes sponsor presence through signage, photographs, in every mention of tournament name
* prepares prize table
* arranges dinner, MC, sponsor speaking opportunity, distributes agenda for dinner and prize presentation among all speaking
* ensures tournament results are faxed to media promptly following tournament

Post-Tournament:
* sends thank you letters to all involved in tournament
* arranges for cheques to be sent to prize winners

The Tournament Coordinator will be responsible for any additional duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Executive Director.
